The Ultimate Green Goddess Smoothie

Smoothies are an excellent way to efficiently and effectively consume a synergy of nutrients to support your health goals.
Creating a perfectly balanced smoothie for maximum nutrient consumption requires careful consideration and a little bit of planning. As a dietitian, I pride myself on developing smoothie recipes that are satisfying, delicious and contain the key nutrients your body needs to facilitate your lifestyle and health goals. This green smoothie is no exception.
The apple and banana in this recipe serve as a wonderful source of fibre and carbohydrates for optimal gut health and energy production, the milk contains protein to aid muscle growth, and the green vegetables contain vitamins and minerals such as iron and folate.
What makes this smoothie superior to traditional recipes is that it contains the addition of hydrolysed collagen peptides. I’ve used the unflavoured variety from The Collagen Co to ensure my body is receiving all the benefits without affecting the taste.
Here’s the recipe:
- ½ lebanese cucumber, chopped
- 1 small-medium banana, skin removed, chopped
- 1 green apple, leave the skin on for additional fibre, chopped
- 1 cup of spinach, washed
- Juice of 1 small lemon [adjust to suit your preferences]
- 1 cup of milk - I opted for a plant-based milk fortified with vitamin D and calcium
- 1 serve of The Collagen Co Unflavoured Hydrolysed Collagen Peptides.
- 1 cup of ice
Method:
- Place all of the ingredients into a high speed blender and blitz until smooth
